Fun.\u00ae<\/span><\/h1>\n\t<div id=\"gap-1898494331\" class=\"gap-element clearfix\" style=\"display:block; height:auto;\">\n\t\t\n<style>\n#gap-1898494331 {\n  padding-top: 30px;\n}\n<\/style>\n\t<\/div>\n\t\n<p><strong>The Children\u2019s Healing Center started as the dream of our fearless founder, Amanda Barbour.<\/strong> After going through a challenging medical journey that left her isolated from the outside world, Amanda wanted to create a place where sick kids, their siblings and their parents could connect with others, be active and have fun.<\/p>\n<p>Without any prior experience in fundraising, Amanda galvanized the support of the Grand Rapids community and launched the Children\u2019s Healing Center in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As the nation\u2019s first year-round recreation center where kids with weak immune systems can play in a safe space,<\/strong> the Children\u2019s Healing Center has quickly grown to include a wide range of programs that emphasize research-based play, socialization and learning.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal is for you and your family to feel the love and passion that has gone into the Center each time you walk through our front door. From the program staff and volunteers to the medical team and our board of directors, you will be supported and given countless opportunities to create wonderfully positive memories during your journey. The Center works in conjunction with local businesses, colleges and universities, medical centers and other nonprofits to create holistic services for sick
