Andrea Hekman

As our Little Tots University Teacher, Andrea creates preschool curriculum that fits the social, emotional, and academic needs of our preschool aged members, ensures that the best support is given in our classroom setting, builds meaningful connections with families, all while providing a safe and healing environment for our members to play, laugh, learn, and grow.

Andrea graduated from Calvin University with a BA in Child and Adolescent Psychology, and from Grand Valley State University with a M.Ed. in School Counseling.  She was part of the Child and Family Life school team at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital where she gained a wide range of work experience and understanding of patient care while providing educational opportunities during treatment. Andrea also worked as a lead teacher with an emphasis in process art, loose parts, and nature based play prior to joining Children’s Healing Center.

When she is not working, you can find her outside working in her garden, traveling with her husband, or surrounding herself with books.
