Janet Conzelmann

As the Chief Operation Officer, Janet is responsible for translating strategic vision into operational plans and ensures successful implementation of services for our members. 

Janet brings both personal passion and professional expertise to her role at the Children’s Healing Center. Her connection to the Center began in 2016 when her daughter Kate was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Kate’s experience helped inspire and launch the Center’s AYA program, designed to support young adults ages 18–26 navigating similar challenges. The meaningful relationships and sense of belonging that Kate found through the Center continue to motivate Janet’s deep commitment to its mission. 

Janet holds an MBA from Grand Valley State University and has over 30 years of leadership experience in human resources and organizational management—including more than a decade in the nonprofit sector. 

Janet lives on the lakeshore where she enjoys hiking, biking, and walking the local beaches. Her son Joel is an environmental engineer residing in Grand Rapids, and her daughter Kate passed away in 2018 after a courageous four-year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Janet honors Kate’s legacy through her continued dedication to building a safe, joyful community for families and children facing health challenges.
