Hi everyone, my name is Emma Clinkscales, the Behavioral Health Manager (or Social Worker) who recently became a part of the team. I joined the center in November of 2021. I recently moved to Grand Rapids with my amazing husband, Ryan, who also volunteers here at the center.
When searching for jobs prior to our moving to Grand Rapids, I really wanted to take my time to find something that not only felt right for me but provided an environment that also cultivated a fun and loving culture. An environment where people not only love what they do, but truly provide a great service to help improve lives. I not only wanted to help and provide a safe space for others, but I also wanted to be part of something where everyone I work with is truly passionate about the same mission and goals.
When I discovered The Children’s Healing Center and researched what the center was all about, not only was I impressed by how the center was started, but if I am being honest, I was shocked and sad that this amazing place isn’t everywhere, in every state. I know so many families that I have worked with as well as members that are part of my personal family that could have benefited from a place like CHC. It was truly something I wanted to be a part of, and when I was given the opportunity to work here, I was ecstatic!
Since being here I have loved getting to know the staff I work with as well as getting to know and work with all the families I have met thus far at CHC. I am truly in awe and admire all the families here, I am just happy to be a part of their lives and provide support, resources and a listening ear when needed.
It’s truly admirable that despite the many storms CHC families may face, they continue to push through and come to the center because they see the healing power of play and building strong connections. I have been so honored to not only witness this each day but lead some amazing programs where there have been countless conversations about the impact CHC has on their lives.
During my down time, you may see me navigating around town to learn and experience more of Grand Rapids. I also love to be outdoors and go on different adventures with my husband and family. I love learning new things and meeting new people and trying great food. So, if you see me around, please don’t hesitate to stop and tell me things you like to do and the places you think have the best food!!
I am so honored to be here and connect with families and help provide support and resources along the way. I am so excited to watch and see this center grow. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives and be your CHC Social Worker! ☺
