Hello! My name is Madisen Jacobson, and I became involved with the Children’s Healing Center in April of 2021.

A friend of mine mentioned the Center as a place to volunteer and gain experience for my future career, little did I know the impact would be much greater. After learning about what the Center does for families, I knew it would be the perfect place for me to get involved. The Children’s Healing Center has taught me so much about not only myself, but life as well.

The Children’s Healing Center is committed to maintaining a safe and clean environment for children to be themselves and have fun with their friends. This is so important as it allows children to make connections with one another while remaining safe from germs! I loved coming in for a program and hearing kids ask if their friends were coming, then seeing their excitement as they got together after not seeing each other for a while. It was a great reminder as to why the Healing Center does what they do.

Being an intern at the Center was nothing short of amazing. I had the chance to plan programs for family nights and a few special event nights such as, the Halloween party, young adult Friendsgiving, parent night outs and more! Seeing these families come back each week and watching their connections grow was awesome. Creating these programs was a fun challenge for myself, they included art projects, obstacle courses, sports, family games, competitions, etc. Seeing their creativity and imaginations come to life was always so exciting!

The Children’s Healing Center will always be a place I hold close to my heart. It has allowed me to create connections that I will have for a lifetime and has given me memories that will last forever! Being someone who has experienced time in and out of the hospitals growing up with my little brother, my appreciation for the Center only grows. To the member families, staff, and volunteers at CHC, thank you! Have some free time during the week? Become a volunteer!
